In order to maintain our roads and to ensure smooth traffic flow, there are road projects carried out around Singapore from time to time.
Proposed New Road Interchange at PIE/ Jurong Canal Dr and Road Enhancement Works
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Quek and Quek Civil Engineering Pte Ltd for the construction of new vehicular flyover at PIE/ Jurong Canal Dr including an at-grade road connecting Jurong Canal Dr with Tengah Blvd. Other works include junction enhancements at Jurong Canal Dr/ Jurong East Ave 1/ Jurong West Ave 1, Jurong West Ave 1/ Jurong West St 41/ Jurong West St 42, and Jurong West Ave 1/ Jurong West St 42/ Jurong West St 52.
When these works are completed, it will enhance connectivity between Tengah and Jurong area, and meet the anticipated increase in traffic demand generated by the intensification of developments in the area.
Expected completion: 2nd Quarter 2028
Proposed Enhancement to Loyang Ave between Tampines Expressway (TPE) and Pasir Ris Dr 3
This project involves the construction of an interchange over the existing Loyang Flyover (TPE) and Loyang Ave/ Tampines Ave 7 at-grade junction and a 0.9km section of the Loyang Viaduct, along Loyang Ave between Tampines Expressway (TPE) and Pasir Ris Dr 3. Other scope of works under Contract DE160 includes road widening of Loyang Ave between Pasir Ris Dr 1 and Pasir Ris Dr 3; alteration/addition works to pedestrian overhead bridge with lifts, retaining structures, bus shelters, covered walkways, drainage works, cycling paths and community spaces along Loyang Ave, Tampines Changkat and Tampines North.
For this contract, specialised overhead machinery will be deployed for construction to minimise impact on the at-grade traffic. As construction works will interface with underground utilities network and existing site constraints, traffic diversions would be required. More details of the traffic diversions will be announced later.
Prior to physical commencement of the construction works, LTA and the contractor will work closely with stakeholders to mitigate inconvenience to residents, such as by erecting temporary noise barriers.

Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works in Yishun
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Harford Engineering Pte Ltd for the construction of commuter and road infrastructures works at Yishun Ave 1, Yishun Ave 8, Seletar West Link and West Camp Rd. When completed, it will help improve traffic flow and enhance the connectivity for pedestrians.
The first phase of construction works along Yishun Ave 1/ Yishun Ave 8 are expected to complete in 4th quarter of 2025.
The other phase of works along Seletar West Link/ West Camp Rd are scheduled to commence in the 4th quarter of 2024 and expected to complete by 2nd quarter of 2026.
Construction of Tengah Vehicular Interchange at KJE
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Chye Joo Construction Pte Ltd for the construction of Tengah Vehicular Interchange at Kranji Expressway (KJE) including the widening of Lam San Flyover and re-alignment/ widening of KJE to support the development of Tengah New Town. When completed, it will provide future residents with direct connectivity to the KJE.
Expected completion: 4th Quarter 2027
Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works in Serangoon and Tampines Areas
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Megastone Holdings Pte Ltd for the construction of commuter and road infrastructures at the following five locations:
a) Serangoon North Ave 1, Serangoon North Ave 5 and Serangoon Garden Way;
b) Lor Chuan between Lor Chuan/ Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 junction and Lor Chuan/ Chuan Lane junction;
c) Braddell Rd/Bartley Rd/ Upp Serangoon Rd junction;
d) Tampines St 32/ Tampines St 23/Tampines Ave 2 and Tampines St 31; and
e) Bedok North Ave 4 vehicular bridge.
When completed, it will help to ease the traffic congestion and enhance the connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.

Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works at Hillview and Dairy Farm
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Hwa Seng Builder Pte Ltd for the widening of Dairy Farm Rd from dual 2-lane to dual 3-lane, and extending Dairy Farm Rd from Upper Bukit Timah Rd to Hillview Ave. Other works include junction enhancements at Dairy Farm Rd/Upper Bukit Timah Rd, Dairy Farm Rd/ Dairy Farm Height, Dairy Farm Rd/Petir Rd and Hillview Ave/ Hillview Rd, as well as the widening of footpaths along Dairy Farm Rd to provide better connectivity for the cycling path networks of Dairy Farm area.
When these improvements of road network are completed, it will improve the overall connectivity between Dairy Farm and Hillview area and meet the anticipated increase in traffic demand generated by the intensification of developments in the area.
Expected completion date: End 2024 / 1st Quarter 2025
Conversion of Dairy Farm Rd by Dairy Farm Cres to a Left-In/ Left-Out Junction with effect from 25 May 2024, 11.59pm
To facilitate the next stage of works, the junction of Dairy Farm Rd by Dairy Farm Cres will be permanently converted to a left-in/ left-out configuration with effect from 25 May 2024, 11.59pm. This change is part of the road widening scheme where both bounds of Dairy Farm Rd would be widened into a 3-lane road. Hence, in view of safety, motorists will not be able to make a discretionary right turn into/ out of Dairy Farm Cres from Dairy Farm Rd. The alternative routes are as follows:
· Motorists who used to turn right from Dairy Farm Cres towards Upp Bukit Timah Rd, would now have to make a left turn, and use the U-turn about 350m away.
· Motorists who used to turn right from Dairy Farm Rd into Dairy Farm Cres, would now have to make a U-turn at the Upp Bukit Timah Rd junction, about 70m away.
Temporary signages will be deployed to guide motorists travelling in the area. Motorists are reminded to drive safely and to follow the signages.
Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works in Pasir Ris and Loyang
The project involves the widening of Pasir Ris Dr 3 (between Pasir Ris Central and Loyang Ave), Loyang Way, New Loyang Link Rd, Old Tampines Rd and Upper Changi Rd North and its associated commuter facilities such as bus shelters, covered linkways, cycling tracks and footpaths. In addition, new roads will be constructed in Loyang Industrial Park, new retaining walls along Loyang Ave and a section of Selarang Canal will be upgraded.
When completed, the widened road will improve traffic flow along this corridor and enhance the overall road network accessibility for the upcoming developments in the vicinity.

Roadworks at Lim Chu Kang Area
The project involves constructing a new road for the realignment of Lim Chu Kang Rd and reconfiguration of Old Choa Chu Kang Rd / Jalan Bahar junction.
These works are to support the expansion of Tengah Air Base to facilitate the relocation of Paya Lebar Air Base.
