Kranji Expressway (KJE) / Senja Road Interchange

From 17 December 2022, 10.00pm, Bukit Panjang Town residents can use new slip roads towards Senja Road from the Kranji Expressway.

Relocation of KJE(BKE) Exit 1 to BKE(SLE)
From 23 October 2022, 12.00am, KJE(BKE) Exit 1 to BKE(SLE) has been relocated 300m upstream.

Opening of New Slip Road from Senja Rd to KJE(BKE)
The new slip road from Senja Road to KJE(BKE) has been opened to traffic with effect from 25 September 2022, 12.00pm. Motorists travelling to KJE(BKE) can travel via the new slip road, in addition to existing routes via Bukit Panjang Road and Senja Way.

Relocation of KJE (Eastbound) Service Road to KJE (BKE, PIE)
KJE (Eastbound) service road to KJE (BKE, PIE) has been relocated 500m upstream with effect from 24 April 2022.

Converted Parts of Senja Rd and Senja Link to One-Way Traffic Direction
As part of the construction of Kranji Expressway (KJE) / Senja Road Interchange, road direction for parts of Senja Link and Senja Rd has been converted into one-way. In addition, there are also some changes in bus stops and bus routes which have been implemented.
Key Changes:
a. Changes to road direction
i. Senja Link (between Senja Rd and Bukit Panjang Ring Rd) will change from a two-way road to a one-way road.
ii. Senja Rd (from east of the junction with Senja Link, until Bukit Panjang Ring Rd) will change from a two-way road to a one-way road.
b. Relocation of bus stop 44821 beside Blk 651 Senja Link to new bus stop 44821 along Senja Rd.

Opening of New Slip Road to KJE(PIE Tuas) and Relocation of Exit to Woodlands Rd
As part of the construction of Kranji Expressway (KJE) / Senja Road Interchange, the following changes to KJE was implemented on 23 January 2022, 05.00am:
1. Open new slip road to KJE(PIE Tuas); and
2. KJE(PIE Tuas) Exit 2 to Woodlands Rd relocated.

Project Brief
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Quek & Quek Civil Engineering Pte Ltd for the construction of a new road interchange at Kranji Expressway (KJE) / Senja Road Interchange.
The new road interchange will provide direct connection from Senja Rd to both bounds of KJE and greater accessibility for motorists travelling to and from Senja and Bukit Panjang area.
The local road network at Senja Rd / Senja Link and the stretch of KJE between Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) and Yew Tee Flyover (Woodlands Rd) will also be widened.
Expected completion: 2nd Half 2022 (Tentative)

Construction of Tengah Vehicular Interchange at KJE
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Chye Joo Construction Pte Ltd for the construction of Tengah Vehicular Interchange at Kranji Expressway (KJE) including the widening of Lam San Flyover and re-alignment/ widening of KJE to support the development of Tengah New Town. When completed, it will provide future residents with direct connectivity to the KJE.
Expected completion: 4th Quarter 2027



Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works in Serangoon and Tampines Areas
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Megastone Holdings Pte Ltd for the construction of commuter and road infrastructures at the following five locations:
a) Serangoon North Ave 1, Serangoon North Ave 5 and Serangoon Garden Way;
b) Lorong Chuan between Lorong Chuan/ Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 junction and Lorong Chuan/ Chuan Lane junction;
c) Braddell Rd/Bartley Rd/ Upper Serangoon Rd junction;
d) Tampines St 32/ Tampines St 23/Tampines Ave 2 and Tampines St 31; and
e) Bedok North Ave 4 vehicular bridge.
When completed, it will help to ease the traffic congestion and enhance the connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.
Expected completion date: 2nd Quarter 2026


Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works at Hillview and Dairy Farm
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Hwa Seng Builder Pte Ltd for the widening of Dairy Farm Rd from dual 2-lane to dual 3-lane, and extending Dairy Farm Rd from Upper Bukit Timah Rd to Hillview Ave. Other works include junction enhancements at Dairy Farm Rd/Upper Bukit Timah Rd, Dairy Farm Rd/ Dairy Farm Height, Dairy Farm Rd/Petir Rd and Hillview Ave/ Hillview Rd, as well as the widening of footpaths along Dairy Farm Rd to provide better connectivity for the cycling path networks of Dairy Farm area.
When these improvements of road network are completed, it will improve the overall connectivity between Dairy Farm and Hillview area and meet the anticipated increase in traffic demand generated by the intensification of developments in the area.
Expected completion: 2024


Traffic Realignment Plan along Dairy Farm Rd

To facilitate the road widening works along Dairy Farm Rd, the trees along the centre median as shown above will be removed progressively from June 2023. The trees will be replanted in phases when the new centre median is completed.
Temporary signages will be deployed to guide motorists travelling in the area. Motorists are reminded to drive safely and to follow the signages.

Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works in Pasir Ris and Loyang
The project involves the widening of Pasir Ris Dr 3 (between Pasir Ris Central and Loyang Ave), Loyang Way, New Loyang Link Rd, Old Tampines Rd and Upper Changi Rd North and its associated commuter facilities such as bus shelters, covered linkways, cycling tracks and footpaths. In addition, new roads will be constructed in Loyang Industrial Park, new retaining walls along Loyang Ave and a section of Selarang Canal will be upgraded.
When completed, the widened road will improve traffic flow along this corridor and enhance the overall road network accessibility for the upcoming developments in the vicinity.

Construction of New Road at Punggol
The project involves the construction of a new road linking Seletar North Link and Punggol East. It involves the construction of two new vehicular bridges over existing canals, construction of retaining walls, cycling tracks and associated road works.
When completed, this new road will provide direct connection from Seletar North Link to Punggol East, providing greater accessibility for residents and motorists.
Expected completion: 1st Half 2023

Enhancement of Tampines Ave 10 between Tampines Ave 5 and Tampines Expressway
The project involves the widening of Tampines Ave 10 to dual 4-lane with a bus lane in each direction.
When completed, it will ensure the reliability of bus services due to the new developments in the area.

Construction of Viaduct from TPE to PIE (Westbound) and Upper Changi Rd East
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the replacement tender of the Tampines Expressway (TPE)-Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) Changi Viaduct to Hwa Seng Builder Pte Ltd to construct a two-lane one-way viaduct from TPE (Changi) to the PIE (Westbound) and Upper Changi Rd East. The works will also include the re-alignment of this stretch of TPE and PIE. Works are currently ongoing.
When completed, the TPE-PIE Changi Viaduct will provide a direct connection for motorists travelling from TPE (Changi) to PIE (Westbound) and Upper Changi Rd East by bypassing the stretch of TPE (Changi) between Loyang Flyover and Upper Changi Flyover and the existing signalised junctions with Loyang Ave and Upper Changi Rd North.
Expected completion: 1st Quarter 2023

Construction of Vehicular Underpass at PIE Exit 26A
The project involves the construction of a new vehicular underpass at PIE Exit 26A, and as part of the works, the existing slip road at Exit 26A will be removed and relocated upstream.
In addition, Hua Guan Ave (Part) will be realigned and widened to a standard dual 1-lane road.
When completed, motorists will be able to exit the expressway using the left lane, thereby improving overall traffic flow for this stretch of the PIE.

Commuter and Road Infrastructure Works at Bedok North Ave 1 between Bedok North St 1 and New Upper Changi Rd
The project involves the widening of a section of Bedok North Ave 1 between Bedok North St 1 and New Upper Changi Rd from dual 2-lane to dual 3-lane carriageway, construction of new retaining walls, covered linkways and cycling tracks.
When completed, the widened road will help to alleviate the traffic congestion along this stretch of road. Connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists will also be improved.
Road works completed so far:
1) Junction improvement works at Bedok North Ave 1/Bedok North Rd has been completed. The improvements include implementing Red-Amber-Green (RAG) traffic control signals for right turns and a new U-turn for traffic exiting from PIE to Chai Chee estate.

2) A new signalised pedestrian crossing at Bedok North Ave 1 near to the Al Ansar Mosque has been added.

3) A new U-turn at New Upper Changi Rd Westbound before Bedok North Ave 1 / New Upper Changi Rd / Bedok South Rd junction has been added.

New Road Connections to Seletar Link and Widening of TPE between Jalan Kayu and Punggol West Flyover
The project involves the construction of a new road interchange at Seletar Link / Tampines Expressway (TPE) and widening of TPE between Jalan Kayu and Punggol West Flyovers.
When completed, the road interchange will provide an alternate route for motorists travelling from Punggol Town to Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Central Expressway (CTE) and cater for developments at Pulau Punggol Timor.
The project also involves the improvement works at the junction of Buangkok East Dr and Buangkok Dr. The approaches along Buangkok East Dr and Buangkok Dr have been widened with an additional lane to ease congestion during peak hours. These improvement works had been completed in March 2018.

Roadworks at Lim Chu Kang Area
The project involves constructing a new road for the realignment of Lim Chu Kang Rd and reconfiguration of Old Choa Chu Kang Rd / Jalan Bahar junction.
These works are to support the expansion of Tengah Air Base to facilitate the relocation of Paya Lebar Air Base.
